Round or Princess Cut Diamond?

Untitled

The Princess cut is the second most popular cut shape for diamonds, next to a round brilliant. The face-up shape of the princess cut is square or rectangular and the profile or side-on shape is similar to that of an inverted pyramid with four beveled sides. The princess cut is a relatively new diamond cut, having been created in the 1960s. It has gained in popularity in recent years as a more distinctive alternative to the more popular round brilliant cut, in which the top of diamond, called the crown, is cut with a round face-up shape and the bottom, called the pavilion, is shaped similar to a cone.

The Princess cut diamond has gained popularity in recent years as a more distinctive alternative to the more popular round cut.

A princess cut with the same width as the diameter of a round brilliant will weigh more as it has four corners which would otherwise have been cut off and rounded to form a round brilliant. The princess cut is sometimes referred to as a square modified brilliant. Princess Cut Diamonds have grown to become very popular recently, however the round cut diamond is more widely viewed as the traditional diamond cut and also one that’s timeless.

Diamond Size or Diamond Quality?

Often now day’s couples will give great attention and significance to the size of the diamond and not enough attention to the quality of the stone.

Find that ‘perfect’ stone that has not only good color and clarity but is close to the ideal size you desire.

The core value of a stone comes not from the size but from its color and clarity, once you have understood this you will need to make a compromise and find a middle ground within your budget.

Platinum or Gold?

Deciding between white gold and platinum? Both metals are commonly used in engagement rings, and both are durable enough to withstand years of wear.

Both Gold and Platinum are commonly used, however Platinum is heavier and a bit more durable.

For most jewelry white gold is going to do the same job as platinum. Platinum is heavier and a bit more durable. Given the recent rise in gold prices many people opt to spend a little more to get the ring in platinum. This is truly a personal preference as both metals look absolutely brilliant with our Rings.
